07-13-14 - 07-19-14 Soccer Final, "Secret" Service, Service via Phone & a Piano Concert

Sunday:  This morning I walked home from my friend's house and got ready for the meeting.
(It was too late to travel the night before.)  A local brother gave the talk and did an excellent job!  Afterwards, a group of us rushed off to one of the friend's house to watch the World Cup Final.  What an intense and stressful game!! I was mildly sad that Argentina lost, as I try to root for the underdog, but most of those at the gathering were Germany/ Alemania fans (still confused why its "Alemania" in Spanish...).  But nonetheless, it was a great game, shared by great friends eating great food.

After the game, we all traveled back home (which is an hour drive).  I cleaned the house and then had a few friends over to eat pizza and watch a movie.  We watched Rio 2 - which was pretty funny even though I hadn't seen the first one.  And no, I didn't eat any pizza - I was a good girl and made myself a peanut butter vegan protein shake instead :)  After having a pretty nasty allergic reaction to some pasta over the weekend, I vowed be strict and eat healthy and stay away from my allergy foods.

Monday:  Today I worked all day, which was quite busy.  Then, in the evening, I made dinner (Mexican Chicken Casserole) and then we did Family Worship.

Tuesday:  This morning after work I went with my friend to the doctor, and then to the grocery store.  In the afternoon, a friend and I met up with another friend to do some return visits and a Bible study.  We finished up around 7:00pm.

Tea Time

Then I dropped off my friend at her house, we had dinner together, then I took my groceries and went home.  My roommate and I did our Bible reading together and at 9:30 I went to bed (Can you believe it??)

Wednesday:  This morning I used my new juicer to make fresh veggie/ fruit juice this morning (Carrot, celery, apple, beet, ginger and lemon for those of you who are curious foodies).  Today was a pretty busy day at work.  Afterwards, I reviewed a my parts for the meeting and then cleaned up the house a bit and did some laundry.

The meeting was in true Quito English fashion with one of our brothers giving the part about the Daily Text.  He compared it to a superfood and brought a true superfood, an egg, onto the stage.  Yep, you guessed it - he dropped the egg on stage.  Thankfully, it was hard-boiled so the clean-up was minimal.

After the meeting, a few of us went out for sushi at Noe.  Then, one of my friends spent the night because we had plans to preach together the following day.

Thursday:  After work this morning, I made some fresh juice again before my friend and I met with the group for preaching.  It was our second time to try Incognito Witnessing at Carolina Park.  We were a few minutes late, but managed to make it there.  We had several nice conversations during the morning.  Then my friend and the other brother who had joined us stopped for a bagel.  A few friends from the valley/ south wanted to meet up with us, so we decided to meet at my house.  We  stopped for a little informal at the grocery store while I picked up some items for phone witnessing that night and then headed home.  About 8 of us shared in phone witnessing/ letter writing that afternoon.  Then I took a break to make dinner (Russian Beef Stroganoff) and dessert (Cheesecake with fresh berries and whipped cream).  Sorry! I forgot to take pictures!

At 6pm, we started phone witnessing again and finished up just before 9pm.  We had a nice group tonight - 10 in total!!  We had to split up 5 in the Living Room making calls and the other 5 in the Dining Area making calls.  We also wrote letters in between.  There was also another group that met for phone witnessing in another location, so great support for evening/ phone witnessing!

Then a few of the friends stayed the night.  You know what that means... I didn't get to sleep until 1:30am!

Friday:  5:30am came very quickly this morning.  But, nevertheless, I got up and started working away.  Another busy day (work is picking up) made the time go by quickly.  Tired and disturbed from some weird dreams the night before I contemplated staying home instead of preaching.  But then I quickly dismissed that thought from my head and met up with the group.  We did some calls at the mall, then they went off to work territory and I met up with my friend for some Bible studies in the afternoon, first one of hers, then one of mine.  It was 5:30pm before I got home.  I quickly changed and then met up with another friend to travel to the south for a get together.  It was a fun night of food and games.

Saturday:  This morning I made arrangements with some others to go to the park for a little early morning witnessing.  Thankfully, 2 of the 4 people I had invited showed up!

  This dog was awesome!!

Then, we grabbed some coffee and snacks and headed to the Hall to meet up with the rest of the group.  It was a great morning!  My friend that I was working with and I both had a good experience while doing census work.  Then we did some follow up calls/ return visits.  I met up with some other friends that afternoon for lunch and more calls.  We stayed out until almost 5pm, then I had to rush home to change and get ready for the piano concert that evening.
